Most course titles are already been part of the degree program’s curriculum. My part is on designing its contents, particularly on specific reading materials. 2nd Semester – IS 231 (Islamic Political Thought): This course is a survey of political themes debated across Muslim communities, as well as in non-Muslim environments. It deals with polities, authority, state, among others, but most especially it addresses inquiries of principles of ethics and morality. A bulk of discussions will concentrate on the idea of Islam and its conceptualization on government, modernity, secularity, Islamism, etc. In the final phase of the course, students must possess critical ounce of intellectual stamina and analytical tools by engaging with scholarly works with ease and confidence.

2nd Semester – IS 225 (History of Islam): Islam has been a vital force for more than 1400 years. Presently, it is the basis of life, belief and culture of more than 23% of world’s population according to 2010 Pew report. Through examination of selected texts, students’ academic writings, and class discussions, this course explores Islam and Muslim history and historiography from pre-Islamic era to the decline of the Ottoman Empire. It includes survey of intellectual, political, social, economic, and cultural developments and processes that shaped various Muslim communities (these are, Arabs, Persians or Iranians, Turkish, Chinese, Africans, South Asians or Indians, and Southeast Asians or Malays).

2nd Semester – GS 197 (Kebab, Charlie, Burkini, and Hijab: Islam in Contemporary Europe): This course is taught by six individuals with overall 33 sessions, and the title is created by the CIS administration. My sessions are divided into three parts: (1) Worlding from Islam to Europe, (2) Worlding from Europe to Islam, and (3) Conceptualizing a ‘European Islam’.

1st Semester – POSC 3073 (Introduction to International Relations): Course content is in progress.

2nd Semester – POSC 3213 (Special Topics in International Politics): New movements, new understandings, and new approaches to the study of International Relations are given importance especially as it addresses complex issues of the international system or world society. Global South or Non-Western IR approaches are highlighted throughout the course. Reading materials are constantly updated.

1st Semester – IS 1 (Introduction to International Studies): Introductory course on Western International Relations, Realism, Liberalism, and Social Constructivism.

1st Semester – IS 18 (Politics and Government of the Middle East): This course is designed as International Relations of the Middle East that surveys statecraft and influence of Westphalian system in contemporary Middle Eastern societies.

2nd Semester – IS 13 (Special Problems on International Relations): Contents are similar with POSC 3213 but with minor changes to suit FEU system.

2nd Semester – IS 24 (Issues and Trends in International Studies): Contents are similar with POSC 3213 but with minor changes to suit FEU system.
