PRLS, BTA offices kick off Bangsamoro Parliament’s lecture series in Lanao del Sur

LOOK: The Policy Research and Legal Services (PRLS) provided lectures on policy and legal research to local government officials and staff of Lanao del Sur during the “Bangsamoro Parliament and the People: Introduction to the Bangsamoro Lecture Series” held in Marawi City, June 13.

  • Post-Legislative Process: Lecture on Legislative Implementation and Post-Legislative Scrutiny by LRD Chief Mr. Vincent Casil.

To introduce the Bangsamoro Parliament, Chief-of-Staff Atty. Ranao Datu-Dacula of the Office of Parliament Speaker, OPS Legislative Staff Officer Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Sarip, and SCSS Director Atty. Abdel Jamal Ramos also delivered their presentations and remarks during the event.

The activity was initiated and organized by the Office of the Parliament Speaker (OPS) in coordination with the PRLS, Planning Division, Statutory Committees Support Service (SCSS), and the Provincial Government of Lanao Del Sur. It intends to boost partnership between the Bangsamoro Parliament and the region’s local government units (LGUs) in order to produce legislations that are “directly answerable to Bangsamoro’s communal problems.”

PRLS aids in the formulation of the internal rules of procedures of the Blue Ribbon Committee

Upon the invitation of the Office of the Majority Floor Leader, the Policy Research and Legal Services (PRLS) participated in the two-day workshop on the formulation of the internal rules of procedures of the Blue Ribbon Committee from June 8 to 9, 2022, in Davao City.

As the workshop commences today, PLRS’ Legislative Research Division (LRD) Chief Mr. Vincent Casil discussed data and analysis on Parliamentary Public Petitions Committee, while Atty. Rafsanjani Baraguir, Administrative Assistant VI of the Legislative Measures and Legal Assistance Division (LMLAD), shared a presentation on the data and analysis on Presidential Blue Ribbon Committee. Also, LMLAD Head Atty. Hisham Nazz Biruar served as the moderator during the open forum on structuring the outline of the committee’s internal rules of procedures.

Eighteen members of the Parliament joined the discussion on refining the outline. According to them, the internal rules of procedures of the Committee on Good Government, Accountability of Public Officers and Investigation, otherwise known as the Blue Ribbon Committee, helps realize the body’s duty to hold public officials accountable and prevent misconduct in the government service. The workshop will continue tomorrow morning.
