The Islam in the Philippines series publishes long and short research monographs, policy-oriented books, handbooks, and collections of multidisciplinary studies and analyses on historical and contemporary Islam and Muslims in the Philippines, including Muslim responses and experiences to colonial modernities. The series, previously partnered with the DLSU Publishing House, is presently being published by the IIUM Press (International Islamic University Malaysia), and in collaboration with Palgrave Macmillan on agreed titles only.

All book proposals should include the following:
– The proposed title of the book.
– A description of the book (between 400 and 700 words) that explains its rationale, scope, significance to the series, its relations to competing works, and notable contribution to existing scholarship.
– A table of contents with chapter summaries.
– Estimated word length for the whole book, its proposed completion date, and description of its target readership.
– Optional: one or two sample chapters.
– Complete curriculum vitae of the author(s).

This book theorizes a philosophical framework for educational policy and practice in Muslim Mindanao. It offers a critical historical and ethnographic analysis to deploy education as a tool to mitigate the conflict and examines recent efforts to integrate Islamic education before proposing a philosophy of prophetic pragmatism as a more promising framework for educational policy and practice that respects the religious identity. It represents a timely contribution to the search for educational policies and practices more responsive to the needs of Muslim communities emerging from conflict in the BARMM region.
